Ultrasonic Thickness Measurement is one of the most widely used NDT methods.
It is a test method that performs thickness measurement by ultrasonic means to determine the erosion and rotting character of mechanical equipment.
Thickness measurement is performed by placing the UT probe on the surface of the object. Locations of localized or generalized thickness thinning can be identified and measured with high accuracy. Using different probe types, thickness measurement can be performed on hard-to-reach surfaces, very thin sheet metal, at high temperatures, over paint or over heavily corroded areas without surface preparation.
