Magnetic Particle Examination MT

Magnetic Particle Examination is a non-destructive testing method used to detect surface/near-surface defects in ferromagnetic materials.

Magnetic Particle Examination is a very good test method for field and workshop applications. It is performed by magnetizing the sample with a magnet or special magnetizing equipment on the ferromagnetic sample.

If the specimen has irregularities, the magnetic field is interrupted from passing through the specimen, creating a leakage field. Finely powdered dyed iron powders applied to the sample are attracted to the leakage areas and, depending on the form of the symptom, are distributed directly above the irregularity. Under appropriate lighting, the symptoms are visually detected.
