Bending Test

The Bending Test is performed to determine the mechanical properties of the material. It covers a method for the construction of transverse root, surface and edge bending tests on specimens taken from butt welds and clad butt welds (clad plates and clad welds) to assess the ductility at or near the surface of the joint and/or the presence of defects at or near the surface of the joint. This test also includes a method for longitudinal root and surface bending tests to be used in place of transverse bending tests for heterogeneous groups when there is a significant difference in the physical and mechanical properties of the base metal and/or the additional metal in relation to the bending test. This test applies to all finished forms of metallic materials with welded joints made by any fusion arc welding process.
